Specific industries have specific sites. Nurses are no exception. And not all the sites can really get you work; some are just out for your personal information - same as in any industry, there can be scammers. If you are thinking of becoming a nurse, or if you are already a nurse but looking for a job or a new nursing path - read about some of the sites listed in this article.
First of all, Nurses can work in a hospital setting, convalescent hospital, seniors' assisted living, medial clinic, or even home care (although PSW's tend to do more of that). However, sometimes a patient can be home but still need specific health care - so a nurse can be hired for home care. There are also Travel Nurses - those who work within the Travel Industry (yes, you get to travel!). You may also want to work in remote areas for specified times (great pay, hard work, hard climate).
Nope. LOTS of designations, all requiring certain education. Here are a few:
Many, depending on where you live and where you want to work.
Nurse-Recruiter.com is a great site for information, articles, as well as jobs. However, you must sign up with them before they tell you about jobs. And they state they send your resume/information out to all their signed employers. Something that is not always a good thing. The articles though are excellent! Don't pass this one up for information!
NursingJobs.org allows you to search jobs without signing up. This site even categorizes according to the area of expertise of nursing employment you are looking for, or location. There is even a separate section for Travel Nurses.
The above sites are mostly for US jobs. Here's a Canadian site:
CanadianRNDirectory really is a directory of jobs in Canada divided by Province, and has lots of excellent information on Health Agencies as well as a Career Guide (wages, how to work outside of Canada, etc.) There's even a section on how to deal with Burnout (a frequent problem in any high stress job).
